Fearless Females: Documents

Take a family document (baptismal certificate, passenger list, naturalization petition, etc.) and write a brief narrative using the information.

In June of 1961 my mother stepped onto the soil of a different country for the very first time.  France.  Her journey began the previous fall when he father received orders for his next duty assignment in Paris.  In my possession is a scanned copy of the family passport she, her brother, and mother used while living in Europe.  What a wonderful source of information.

Grandma applied for the passport from their home in Wayne, Michigan and it was issued December 7, 1960.  On the first page of visa’s is the Visa to enter France, approved December 21, 1960.  It is incredible to trace the places they went while stationed there until 1963.

Of course, when I saw the picture, I asked what was wrong with everyone.  My mom laughed and said they were all sick from all the immunizations they received the day before.  Poor kids, mom looks like she would like to crawl into a dark hole and stay for a while.
